Center-Based Currency
At Peoria DTA, we use a unique center-based currency system to teach valuable lessons in budgeting, saving, and financial responsibility. Members earn money daily through their active participation and contributions to various tasks, such as working in the juice bar, mock restaurant, or completing educational activities.

Earning & Spending: Members can earn currency each day through their work and achievements. This money can be spent within the center for services, goods, or activities such as snacks, movie tickets, or special outings.

Monthly Bill Payments: Members are responsible for paying monthly bills with their earned currency, simulating real-life financial obligations such as rent, utilities, and other expenses.
This system promotes self-sufficiency, helping participants develop practical money management skills while encouraging a sense of responsibility and independence.

Events & Workshops
Friday Cooking Lessons
Our hands-on cooking lessons in our Cooking Station Area! Participants will learn essential meal prep, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety, while gaining confidence in creating nutritious meals. It’s a fun, interactive way to develop independence and culinary skills in a supportive, guided environment.
Community Outings
Our special outings allow members to explore local parks, museums, and events, providing opportunities to practice social skills, independence, and apply what they've learned inside the facility to real-world experiences.
